The First Meeting of Federal Constitution Drafting Commission

The first meeting of the National Unity Government Federal Constitution Drafting Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar was successfully held this afternoon. The Vice-President of the State, Duwa Lashi La, gave an opening remark and agendas were discussed.

The Vice President urged the Commission to make a federal constitution based on the federal principles led by the FCDCC and EAOs and to invite local and international experts in drafting the constitution.

He also urged that, as the National Unity Government is a revolutionary government, the views of the people are important in the drafting of a nationwide federal constitution.  The constitution needs to bring peace to Myanmar and currently there may be difficulties and challenges, but it is important to create an all-inclusive environment to draft a federal constitution.
