1. The National Unity Government is taking every step to cooperate with the International Court of Justice, the world’s highest court, and, by that, to
ensure that we comply with Myanmar’s international legal obligations. We are very concerned about the difficult situation of the Rohingya especially
who fled to Bangladesh in 2016-17.
2. It is amongst the duties of the National Unity Government, as the lawful government of Myanmar, to ensure continuity of representation before the
Court, and to be mindful of the timetable established by the Court.
3. The National Unity Government of Myanmar is also actively considering accepting the exercise of jurisdiction by the International Criminal Court
over the killings, torture and other crimes against civilians that have occurred since the attempted coup started on 1 February 2021.
4. The National Unity Government wishes to reaffirm that we will continue to working closely with the Court and all relevant stakeholders for benefits of the country and all people in Myanmar, respecting the National Unity Government’s commitment to human rights as the only acceptable basis for
our shared future.
